The Klassen family had been invited to serve in partnership with CBM and FIBAC (The Fraternity of Baptist Churches in Cuba) in the summer of 2019.
Unfortunately, those plans were put on hold when Colleen was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in December, 2018. After a year of aggressive but successful treatment, the cancer is gone and the Cuba plans are back on track for the summer of 2020!
We will be supporting, participating in and encouraging the ministries of the FIBAC churches and gathering stories, photos and videos that will help Canadians get excited about God's work in Cuba. This will range from camp ministry to visiting agriculture and small business projects, to learning from church leaders and seminary students about the joys and challenges they face as they serve and study within the Cuban context.
Since the start of their partnership in 2011, CBM and FIBAC have been building a strong relationship which places a high value on integral mission carried out by local churches serving their communities in unique ways. The values of CBM are summed up in the following statement:
